We Offer a Range of Positions

Compass Adventure runs a variety of programs throughout the year, including summer camps, sailing programs, seasonal school programs, and rental operations. That means we hire for a wide range of positions, such as:

  • Camp Leaders – Lead fun, outdoor educational experiences for kids.

  • Sailing Instructors – Teach on the water in our structured sailing programs.

  • Rentals – Manage kayak and paddle-board rentals, support guests, and keep things running smoothly.

  • Volunteers & Junior Leaders – A great starting point for those working toward future employment.

Whether you’re just starting out or have years of experience, there’s a place for you on our team. We value a wide range of skills, interests, and leadership styles.

Certifications and Training

Some positions do require current certifications, such as:​

  • Standard First Aid & CPR

  • Pleasure Craft Operator Card (PCOC)

  • Sailing Instructor Certifications

If you’re not certified yet but are enthusiastic and willing to learn, we can help you get there! Compass Adventure offers some in-house training and practice opportunities depending on the role.

About Compass Adventure

Compass Adventure is a dynamic outdoor education and water sports organization based in Comox, BC. We offer youth-focused programs that include sailing instruction, marine education, and outdoor adventure through summer camps, school partnerships, and seasonal programming.

Position Overview

We are seeking enthusiastic and reliable individuals to join our seasonal team. Whether you're looking to lead groups of children in outdoor activities, teach sailing on the water, or help families rent kayaks and paddle-boards, Compass Adventure offers a range of rewarding opportunities.

We value applicants with a variety of experiences—from first-time job seekers to seasoned instructors—and are committed to building a supportive, growth-oriented team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead or support daily programming for youth (camp, sailing, or rental-based activities)

  • Ensure participant safety and uphold company safety protocols

  • Create a fun, inclusive, and respectful environment

  • Communicate clearly with fellow staff, participants, and parents

  • Assist with equipment setup, cleanup, and maintenance

  • Adapt activities to meet the needs and energy levels of participants

Requirements & Qualifications

Required for all positions:

  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn

  • Strong teamwork and communication skills

  • Comfort working outdoors in a fast-paced, hands-on environment

  • Availability during key program dates (e.g., summer months or school terms)

 

Depending on role, may also require:

  • Standard First Aid & CPR

  • Pleasure Craft Operator Card (PCOC)

  • Relevant coaching or instructor certifications

  • Previous experience working with youth or in an instructional setting

  • Age minimum of 16+ for most paid positions

 

Note: If you do not yet hold a required certification but are working toward it, some in-house training or practice opportunities may be available.
