Coaching has been my lifestyle for many years. I have coached a very diverse number of sports, from grass roots to Olympic levels. As a founding member in Compass Adventure and a co-owner of SurfSUP I have almost 40 years experience in the sport tourism industry.

A long time waterman in the Comox Valley, Stuart is a co-founder of Compass Adventure and SurfSUP Inc. He is passionate about sharing the waterman lifestyle with others through coaching the programs offered through CA and SurfSUP.

Age: 35

I was born in the Comox Valley where at a young age I was introduced to water sports. Eventually sailing became the number one thing in my life and over time I became quite accomplished, winning the Canadian youth and overall championships and making it the the podium at the North American Championships. After graduating my focus changed from racing to coaching and I became qualified as:

  • CYA level instructor

  • NCCP A & B 

  • PCOC (Pleasure Craft Operator)

  • Life saving/ boat rescue 

  • CYA RO 1 (Race Official)

  • Stand Up Paddle Board Elite Racer and Coach

  • WSUPA Master Paddle instructor and facilitator 

Coaching kids and young adults the basics of sailing all the way up to high level racing has become my passion and a great lifestyle choice.
