COVID - 19 PLAN

Check in

• When you arrive, please pay attention to social distancing lines on the ground and the

directional signs we’ve posted.

• Printable waivers are on our web for customers to complete so that there are few to no

administrative touch points onsite.

 

Logistics

 

• Registrations are Mondays only through the day to stagger arrival / departure times

• Marked waiting spots and walkways to maximize social distancing and

minimize exposure

• Separate launching and landing locations to allow for proper sanitation of

equipment and promote directional flow of customers to minimize exposure

• Post signage reminding participants of sanitization and social distancing practices.

 

Boats and

Equipment • Sanitize boats, paddles, lifejackets after every use.

 

• Only same household grouping bubbles participants allowed on any one piece of equipment.

 

Additional modifications and guidelines

 

• Instructions are disseminated on our web page to familiarize students

with our modifications and protocol.

• We are reducing the number of customers daily to allow for proper sanitization of

equipment after every use and to maintain groups of max 8 plus staff.

• We have additional staff on hand to assist customers and sanitize equipment

 

Tiki Wiki, Go Sailing 1,2 , Ocean Adventure Camp, Super Camp, Sailing Academy Programs

Modifications and Guidelines

Lesson

structure

 

• We are reducing the number of students per class/camp. Approximately 6 students

for Tiki Wiki. Approximately 8 students per group in Ocean Adventure Camp max 3 groups, Go Sailing max 12 students 2 per boat with distancing.

• We are making every effort to assign instructors to the same class through the

entire session.

• Family members will be kept together if possible then grouped per age.

• Entire courses are conducted outdoors.

• Instructors will review safety rules with students on the first day – including social

distancing considerations, coughing and sneezing safety, hand washing/sanitizing.

 

 

Check in Procedures 

 

• Please only have one authorized person walk up to check-in/out youth students each

day. For your convenience preauthorized self check-in/out is allowed for all youth

students to reduce unnecessary exposure.

• We ask that students already be sun screened upon arrival. And we ask that

students bring spray sunscreen to avoid physical contact.  We ask that students not share food, water, sunscreen or personal items.

• Temperature and health screening are completed for every student upon arrival

each day.

• Students who do not pass the health screening, will be masked and isolated from

others. The student will be sent home. (parent/guardian of minors will be required

to pick up student within 1⁄2 hr of notification).

Logistics 

 

• We have staggered student arrival and departure times to avoid large group

congregation.

• Separate meeting areas are established for each class and all meetings are outdoors

• Student seating will be spaced at a distance from one another. We strive for 6’

distance, but there may be times that students will be sitting closer to one another.

• Classes/camps will not mix with other classes/camps

• Signage posted to remind participants of our sanitization and social distancing

practices

 

Boats and Equipment

 

• Single handed boats will be used if possible. Or reduced number of students per

vessel with spacing on board.

 

• Same groups are assigned each day of program if multi person vessels are utilized.

• We sanitize boats, gear, equipment, with approved products after each class

session or in between usage by another group.

• Lifejackets will be assigned to students to use for the whole day.

 

 

Additional modifications  and guidelines

 

• We have removed drop in programs offered through the season to increase

social distancing standards and minimize exposure. 

• Instructors will wear cloth face masks during check-in/ check-out, and whenever

the safety of wearing a mask outweighs the risks of not wearing masks.

• Instructors may or may not wear masks when working with students at a distance.

• Students may wear cloth face masks during land-based activities if they choose.

Because of the low risk of spreading the infection in the outdoor, small group

setting, we are not requiring that students wear masks.

• The risk or wearing a mask while on a small boat (board) or in the water is greater

than the safety of wearing a mask. Therefore, we disallow students or staff to wear

masks while boating or swimming. The rule is: launch boats, lower masks.

• Designated staff to sanitize equipment after use and at the end of the day.

• Hand sanitizer is available for student/camper convenience and students /staff will

be required to wash and sanitize their hands throughout the day.

• A bottle of hand sanitizer will be issued to every instructor to use with their

students. And a bottle will be on every instructor manned sailboat and safety boats.

• Instructors are trained to recognize symptoms of Covid and will monitor students

for Covid symptoms through the day.

• Individuals who were in close contact with the symptomatic individual and/or was

in close contact with someone who displays COVID-19 or influenza like symptoms

will be temperature/health screened and monitored upon arrival and departure

from the Center daily.

• Instructions are disseminated on our web page to educate students to our

modifications and guidelines.

• We are will be issuing refunds on summer programs if we are mandated closed due to Covid-19.

 

 

Staff Modifications and Guidelines

 

• Staff must complete our training to recognize signs/symptoms and safety

involving Covid-19. And our cleaning and safety protocol.

• Staff will be temperature checked and health screened upon arrival to

work daily

• Instructors will review safety rules with students on the first day – including social

distancing considerations, coughing, and sneezing safety, hand washing/sanitizing.

We encourage staff to stay home and contact us if they are sick. 

• All staff are issued cloth face masks. Face masks are to be worn when practical

during land-based working hours when physical distancing is impractical.

• Staff is discouraged from using other workers’ phones, pens, tablets,

clipboards, lifejackets.

• The risk or wearing a mask while on a small boat (board) or in the water is greater

than the safety of wearing a mask. Therefore, we disallow students or staff to wear

masks while boating or swimming. The rule is: launch boats, lower masks.

• Hand sanitizer will be issued to every instructor to use with their

students. And a bottle will be on every instructor manned sailboat and safety boats.

• Hand washing or hand sanitizing is required throughout the day, during water/sun screen breaks before and after lunch and when switching activities.

• Staff displaying a fever or symptoms of Covid-19 will be isolated while

parent/guardian is contacted for immediate pick up. Adult staff will be dismissed

to self-quarantine. Follow-up on health status will be conducted for 14 days

following dismissal of any staff.
